Hello and welcome back to indie bites, the podcast where i bring you stories of fellow indie hckers in 15 minutes or less. Today I’m joined by Grey Baker, who is the co-founder of Dependabot, which is a bot that makes it easy for developers to keep the third party dependencies up to date, which grew to $14k MRR before being acquired by Github in 2019. Grey’s story is a long an interesting one, so there is an extended version of this podcast available on the indie feast membership. But the best bits are here about he started out at McKinsey, before being a pivotal early employee at London FinTech GoCardless, to then cycling around the world and then coming back to accidentally launch Dependabot.

So I met Grey 4 years ago at the Indie Beers meetup in London, which is where I also met the founder of today’s episode sponsor, Tiiny Host, made by my buddy Elston.

Tiiny Host makes super easy for you to host static sites and files. Just zip those files up and Tiiny Host will create a perfect hosted link for you ready for you to share. Or if you’re freelancing and need to share quick prototypes with your clients, this is a wonderfully simple way to do it. Got a PDF to host? Tiiny.Host has you covered.

Honestly, this is just fun to try out and it’s cool to see another indie hacker making a product used by thousands of people. Also, I found out this week that Elston owns Tiiny.com, can we convince him to switch to that instead of his current domain. But anyway, to try it out head to tiiny.host, that’s with 2 I’s or hit the link in the show notes.

Thank you for listening to this episode of indie bites. This is one of my favourite episodes so far and have had a blast editing the 90 minute conversation into a 15 minute episode. If you want to listen to more of Grey’s story, it’s available on the Indie Feast membership, link is in the show notes. Remember to check out today’s sponsor at Tiiny.host for all of your simple web project hosting needs. See you next week.
